AVA

Ava was adopted in 2002, she was at the Center for over a year before being adopted. Now she is fat & sassy! Thanks to Avas People!

BIG BEN

Big Ben or “BB” for short. In this picture he was just brushed, given a treat and some catnip. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to adopt him he is a joy. BB sleeps with me when I invite him, he loves to play with the reflection of my makeup mirror, hiding in the tub and swatting at me. He also loves to get a hold of the toilet paper and run through the house with it!

KEYNI

Hello,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on Keyni, who I adopted from your shelter a little over a month ago. He seems to be adjusting to his new home fairly well, things between him and the cats are still a little tense but they are starting to adjust to each other. We take around 3-4 short walks a day, sometimes up to 6, and he just loves them. I've been working on leash training with him and he has become much easier to walk even though he still pulls a bit. He loves to play with his squeaky plushes and chew on his nylabones and take naps on the couch and floor. He is such a sweet & funny dog!

SAMMIE

Hello Friends! We wanted to let you know how things are going so far with Sammie, the Aussie Cattle Dog we adopted on Friday.

1. She is so smart! You had taught her to sit. She now knows "down" and "drop" which she does about 95% of the time! She will bring us her hedgehog toy, hot dog toy or kong and will drop it at our feet. :) :) :) We are working on "come" which she doesn't understand yet.

2. She gives "kisses" to our neighbors horses when we walk her. She licks their noses. She loves them!

3. She met my sister's Golden Retriever and Yorkshire Terrier with NO problems other than she wanted to play. No hackles, no lunging. She got submissive, even with the Yorky, and rolled on her back showing her belly. She crawled towards them on her belly. She kept showing them her back end as if to say, "Smell me! I'm your friend!"

4. Sheep. She can't WAIT! We've only allowed her in the sheep pasture on her short lead so far - she needs to learn her manners a bit better before being let off her lead - but she is very eager to herd them. :)

5. This morning I gave her a frisbee and we played. Sammie thinks frisbees are the BEST toy going. We put her on a 75 foot cord when we play frisbee so she can run. We're not comfortable yet with letting her run in the fenced in back yard because it is two acres and she doesn't know "come" yet. She'll get there!

6. We renamed Sammie. We call her "Ruby" now. She doesn't get it yet - but she is such a jewel of a dog we think the name fits and she is red! Finally - we start puppy traning Wednesday.
Thank you for all you do for animals. We were very appreciative of all the time you took with us, the no pressure approach, and the obvious love and care you provide our four legged friends!

Signed - Ruby's People Wendy Wichern and family
