Volunteer:The Allen County SPCA would not be the safe haven for dogs and cats if it weren’t for loving and dedicated volunteers. Community members who give their time to the ACSPCA keep our center going to better serve our fur friends.
There are several volunteer opportunities that will certainly fit with any schedule or interest. No matter where your heart lies, we will find a place for you to enrich the lives of the dogs and cats that need you most. Call the ACSPCA for more information and a volunteer handbook.
Volunteer Opportunities: Canine Enrichment and Grooming: Activities include walking, grooming, socializing, and appropriate handling techniques. Specialized training is provided to ensure that volunteers utilize universally accepted techniques in order to improve our dogs’ chances for adoption. Humane and consistent techniques are imperative to the well-being of our animals. Communications and Media: Work on the newsletter, website, brochures, press releases and other promotional and publicity items.
Committee Service: Serve on any of the following committees: Animal Care, Board Development, Faclities, Finance, Fund Development, Human Resources, Membership/Volunteer, Marketing or on a committee for special events.
Donation Collection: Gather cash and checks from donation boxes and log amounts collected from designated locations. Collect donated goods from area businesses. All donations are turned in to the the shelter Director.
Feline Enrichment and Grooming: Activities include socialization and grooming. Cat toys or laser lights can provide exercise and stimulation. Many of our cats simply enjoy sitting on your lap or being petted. Cats constantly shed and must be brushed to prevent matting. Nail trimming may also be done.
Maintenance and Repair: Work on designated building or grounds maintenance projects according to your skills. Having your own tools and equipment is a plus but not required.
Office Support: Answer phones, update computer databases, prepare mailings, clean, and perform other tasks as needed.
Offsite Cat Care: Provide cage cleaning, litter changing, feeding, watering and socialization at our satellite cat adoption locations (such as PetSmart).
Outreach Events: Represent the ACSPCA at outreach events, interact with the public at businesses, fairs and expos, and help at other community events. Transporting animals to the events may be necessary.
Special Events and Fundraising: Help plan and execute fundraisers, design fundraising materials, and secure both in-kind and monetary donations.
Youth Opportunities: Youth can contribute in a variety of ways including service projects, volunteering with a responsible adult, and participation in outreach events. Contact the Director to see how youth can help! |
