One Step Ahead of the Dog…“Recycle a Quilt, Restore a Dog”

A joint project of
Born Again Quilts and the Allen County SPCA

Born Again Quilts
(BAQ), a local quilt restoration studio, and the Allen County SPCA (ACSPCA) have partnered to recycle old, hand-made donated quilts to benefit the ACSPCA.

When old, hand-made quilts are donated to the Center for bedding, they will be given to quilt restorer and long-time  ACSPCA member Lois Eubank. She will then perform the necessary work to either restore them or use them as “spare parts” to restore other quilts. Once restoration is complete the quilts will be tagged with the project logo and offered for sale at the BAQ studio and other locations. A percentage of each sale will benefit the Center. Quilts can also be taken to BAQ and designated for the “One Step Ahead of the Dog” program.

It’s a win-win-win for the donor, BAQ, the dogs (and cats) at the ACSPCA, and the quilt buyer. Before this program we didn’t know what to do with the quilts that had been donated to us. They would have been destroyed by the dogs! Now the quilts can get a new life and new home by being recycled and the ACSPCA will benefit from Lois’s love of quilts and animals.

Quilts can be donated and dropped off at the Allen County SPCA, 4914 Hanna Street (Tuesday - Saturday, noon-5) or at Born Again Quilts, 124 W. Wayne Street, Suite 209, across from J.K. O’Donnell’s (Monday-Friday 9-4). Questions? Call Lois Eubank, (260) 515-9446 or visit www.bornagainquilts.com
