FOSTER

Foster Care Volunteer Program

Welcome to the Allen County SPCA Foster Care Program! Thank you for your interest in finding out more about taking a dog or cat into your home to care for and nurture. You will find that fostering is an opportunity to learn about pets and helping them. It requires commitment, patience and lots of TLC.

An animal can be fostered before it’s adoptable because it has a special need. It needs extra attention, extra time and requires a more private and quiet home environment.

These special needs can range from very young animals that need some time to grow up before being placed, to a dog undergoing heartworm treatment or even a blind animal. Whatever the challenge, each animal will have a treatment plan specifically tailored to its needs.

As a Foster Care Volunteer (FCV) you would provide an animal with an opportunity in a safe and nurturing environment to overcome its challenges on its journey to a forever home.
